Hunger Walk: Saturday, June 26, 2010

This year's Hunger Walk arrives at a critical time for pantries like the New Hope Community Food Pantry. The Greater Chicago Food Depository reports that 678,000 people turn to pantries each year, and many of the people seeking help have never needed it before. Many families are finding that there just isn't money left for food at the end of the month after paying for rent, utilities and medicine.

The Hunger Walk helps us raise the funds we need to continue to provide groceries to people in need. The support of the local community keeps our programs running and ensures that individuals and families have a safety net when times are tough. Funds raised at the Hunger Walk support our food budget all year long.

The 5K walk takes place Saturday, June 26th, at Soldier Field. To participate as a walker or to pledge your support, please contact Bill Murphy at 773-775-1215. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and step-off is at 9:30 a.m.
